As Snow Throws Soft Its Shield

We live or watch this war

Fought senseless as the snow throws soft its shield

Too thin to stop the pierce of shrapnel thud

To each as drip and drop of stone upon still water

Bone and blood

A family moves no more

Mother

Father

Children all

We live and watch this war

We live with sight and sound

Fought senseless on our screens held long and warm to palm

Too far to feel the rise of fear swell strong

As if our final day

To each we turn and show our pain revealed

Pass on this madness of our hour with touch to glass

That humans can so quickly kill

Mothers

Fathers

Children all

Shout loud with love

End This War

. . .

A family is killed by mortar fire in their rush to escape war in Ukraine...
