A bird perches on a flowering tree and looks out through the falling rain.
I live in southern England. Even in high summer I can experience the dull grey days of rain as cold upon my skin. With this painting I think of the glass half full, where rain is the source of life and birdsong.
As I take a moment more, I sense that beauty can equally arise from the subdued colour palette of a wet day, as it can from the vibrant hues of dry heat I am so often drawn to. My frequent experience is however another's rarity, and as so often happens with something familiar, it is easy for me to loose sight of its strength.
