It is a challenge to create artworks that are accessible to all when the subject matter should in some way shock...

With this artwork I try to avoid being too explicit. The image makes it difficult to know whether we view the buildings shown from above, or side on. The drips suggest one perspective, while the pools of colour, another. This visual ambiguity mirrors how conflict and war is shaped by our point of view, whether cultural, religious, or historical.

Although there is no depiction of life, the ample evidence that life was brought to a sudden and terrible end is implied by the deep reds that flood the canvas. I see a family home, a place of work or worship, and the terrible consequences of war. All war results in the end of life, love, beauty, and for many, time. The time of a mother, daughter, son, or father. The time loved ones and friends are lost.

End one thing: war.
