Round Pegs Square Holes

idiom: a phrase of words that conveys unique meaning, not anticipated by each word alone.

I ponder on the idiom Square Peg in a Round Hole that refers to someone out of place, or two things that do not fit well together. With the abstract artworks here, many circles are placed within a large square boundary. Both images and their extracts are also full with the symmetry and harmony of circles and squares.

I think of my own unconventional path and how I remain a part of a broader community. Rather than thinking of myself as a square peg in a round hole, I turn this idiom on its head and consider my fellow humans as round pegs and square holes.

I find most people experience connecting with one another far less straightforward than the idiom I reference implies!
